Social consciousness is a continual theme within my work, using a mannerist method of metaphors and symbolisms to portray the point at hand. Within these pieces I appropriate images for their composition, integrity, complexity, and candor in order to construct paintings with an underlining message. This message may not appear clear to the viewer, as it is not my intention to spell it out, but to suggest the subject. Personally, paint acts as the best medium to capture these ‘accurate’ portrayals of man, as I believe a photo can speak a thousand words, but a painting can sing.
